Reading should be, for the Christian, a non-negotiable.  Certainly reading God's Word is necessary.  Christianity is a word-based religion.  In revealing himself to us, God chose to give us a book:  not a movie or a soundtrack or a painting, but a book.  Though he has at times revealed himself in other ways the only inerrant, objective revelation of God that we have access to today is the Bible.  So Christianity is a word-based, a revelation-based faith.  Thus our series each January on Psalm 119, as we celebrate the Word of God and its necessity and centrality in the Christian life.  Christians are instructed by the Word to read and to cherish and to meditate on God's Word regularly.  read more »
