Reading should be, for the Christian, a non-negotiable. Certainly reading God's Word is necessary. Christianity is a word-based religion. In revealing himself to us, God chose to give us a book: not a movie or a soundtrack or a painting, but a book. Though he has at times revealed himself in other ways the only inerrant, objective revelation of God that we have access to today is the Bible. So Christianity is a word-based, a revelation-based faith. Thus our series each January on Psalm 119, as we celebrate the Word of God and its necessity and centrality in the Christian life.
